The Brief:
The client is a single retiree that resides in a rental townhome, which she shares with her sister. She wanted to turn her bedroom an into a zen oasis and have green as the primary color. The room had no established design, plain white walls, and mismatched furniture. She wanted her bedroom to feel calming and relaxing. She had never worked with a professional designer before this project, so this will be their first professionally designed space.
The Task:
The bedroom redesign required me to create a Zen-inspired space with a limited budget. The white walls of the rental property needed to stay because of their rental status. The existing furniture stayed in place while I brought in new pieces including a dresser and headboard together with decorative accents. I transformed the existing shelf and nightstands she owned through faux-finishing techniques. The paintings I discovered showcased gentle green foliage elements which brought natural elements to the space. The bedroom transformation resulted in a peaceful retreat with natural elements despite the restricted budget.
